Policy for financial support for students and recent PhD students

Offer of a Travel Subsidy
The Council of the CAC wishes to offer each year, insofar as possible, financial assistance to encourage
and support participation at the Annual conference for graduate students and recent PhD students in
search of a job (within a period of two years since the degree was granted).
Since it is not possible to predict in the short and long term the budgetary surplus available to support this
program, the Council will, each year, announce the available funds and a reasonable deadline for filing a
request.
This annual program will be extended depending upon the availability of funds, and it will be managed
each year based on the number of applicants. It is open to members in good standing with the Association
and will provide reimbursement for the cost of transportation (plane, train, etc.), and the equivalent of two
nights stay at a hotel upon presentation of original receipts and tickets; this sum can total up to $650,00.
In the spirit of supporting participation at the annual meeting, successive event organizers will be
encouraged by the Association to undertake locally, within their institution, the necessary steps to find
additional sources for funding. In addition, budgetary surpluses produced by the annual meeting of the
CAC, normally reserved for other funds administered by the Association, may be dedicated to this
funding endeavor.
